Dear Members,

CITAP is here to assist you during the COVID-19 crisis. We are vigorously communicating with various stakeholders and would like to update you about the initiatives we have taken in the past few weeks:

  • Tourism Industry Association Canada (TIAC) launched Canada’s Tourism and Travel Industry Recovery Plan Campaign.

This is a broad, industry-developed recovery campaign that seeks sector-specific government support to ensure Canada has a tourism industry post-pandemic plan. CITAP endorses this initiative and would like to encourage all members to join. Please visit Tourismmatters.ca to learn more.

  • We upgraded the COVID-19 RTO Members Roundtable Discussion to RTO “Roads to Recovery”.   This platform has two components:

(1)   RTO brainstorming session;

We discuss various issues relating to RTO’s operation. In the latest discussion, we invited Mr. Brad Sidjak of International Stage Lines. RTO members got                     updated about the guidelines of safe bus operations issued by the Passenger Transportation Branch of BC.

(2)   DMO presentations:

DMO members share their presentations to RTO members. So far, we’ve had:

    • Destination Canada: “Responding to COVID-19” by Ms. Maureen Riley
    • Destination Sherbrooke: Virtual FAM by Mr. William Hogg
    • Tourism Kingston: Virtual FAM by Ms. Abigail Hellier
    • Atlantic Canada: Virtual FAM by Ms. Kelley Keefe, Mr. Craig Sulis
    • Ottawa Tourism: Virtual FAM by Mr. Emerson Velasco
